Mr. Russell Stewart
Head Coach – Women’s Soccer

Russell Stewart joins the University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department as the Women’s Soccer Head Coach beginning in the 2009-2010 season.

Stewart is originally from Airdrie, Scotland where he attended Caldervale High School. While in Scotland he played youth soccer until the age of 16. Stewart then joined the Aidrie F.C. and played there for two years before playing with the Clyde F.C. for one year. During this time Stewart played for the Scottish National Team where he won the 4 National Cups.

In 2002 Stewart came to the U.S. to play on the University of the Cumberlands Men’s Soccer Team where he was a four year captain, two time NAIA All American, three time NAIA All Region honoree and a four time Mid-South Conference All Conference recipient. Stewart was graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in 2006 with a degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, Stewart pursued his trade as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Carson Newman College, NCAA DII. During his tenure with the Eagles, the team finished 15-3-2 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA DII Finals. Also during this time, Stewart also served as the Youth Academy Director for F.C. Alliance Soccer Club in Knoxville, TN.
