When Alex Schupp cut into the penalty box during the championship game of the 2011 CESA Spring Challenge, time expired with the score tied 1-1. At that exact moment, an opposing defender tripped him from behind. Oh what does a referee do? Fortunately for the 98 Boys Black, the official ruled it a penalty kick. Moments later, Collin Rose cooly stepped to the mark and buried the game winning goal. The Tennessee state champions completed a four game unbeaten streak to earn the first place trophies. Along the way, they enjoyed wins over CESA 97 (3-1), Concorde Fire Black (3-1), and FUSC Inferno (8-0). A stout defense, led by goalkeepers Jeremy Wise and Dino Kokkoris, held four opponents to just three goals. In the final against CESA 98, the team was rarely threatened, with the only goal coming off a penalty kick.
