Tournament is a Smashing Success!
Great soccer makes weekend entertaining

Beautiful weather and beautiful soccer make a perfect weekend, and a perfect weekend it certainly was.  A legion of teams from a four hour radius converged in the Knoxville area for the Alliance Premier Cup.  Once again, neither the teams nor the tournament disappointed.  23 different champions were crowned, many of those titles earned in thrilling championship games.  It was a tournament highlighted by overtime and penalty kick shootouts.  Although it meant heartbreak for some, it also meant excitement and a taste of the real passion soccer brings to fans around the world.  After brutal weather earlier in the week, the tournament was originally in doubt.  However, the consenus was to let the kids play.  All facilities were salvaged except one: Victor Ashe Park.  Fortunately, Clinton High School stepped in and offered their complex in Anderson County for tournament use.
