The brutal pool play round at the USYSA Region 3 tournament is over, and three FC Alliance teams are still standing. Club hopes are high, as the three survivors have earned the prestigious label of regional quarterfinalists, and each is one win away from the semifinals. The 97 Girls Black have been fantastic, winning all three of their games. The 96 Girls Black needed to win today over Tophat to advance, and they delivered with a 1-0 win over the Atlanta powerhouse. Montana LeBoeuf scored on a sublime effort to pave the way. The 94 Boys Black were in a similar situation, needing a win over CESA Premier to stick around for the next round. An Austin Stone scorcher, a wicked volley from 20 yards out, was the difference in a 2-1 FC Alliance victory.
Not all FC Alliance teams made it through. The 95 Girls Black and 98 Boys Black both came up short. They have nothing to hang their heads about, as each was still alive on the final day.
Quarterfinal games will be played Monday and Tuesday.
