For youth soccer teams, there are tournaments for every level of play. They range from recreational to intermediate to competitions at the most elite level. Coach Shane Moore’s 00 Girls Black recently threw their name into the ring of one of the top tournaments in the eastern United States: the prestigious CASL Shootout. Competing in the stout U13 AdiZero division, they won all four of their games, culminating with an impressive 6-1 victory over South Carolina United in the championship game.
The title game was especially impressive considering the 00 Girls Black trounced a team who had outscored opponents by a combined score of 17-2 en route to the finals. South Carolina United had scored at least five goals in each of their first three games. Such dominance is rare at a tournament of this calibar, so the fact that the FC Alliance team was able to derail them is an impressive feat.
For Moore’s squad, reaching the title game wasn’t quite as easy. Victories include a 2-1 thriller over FC1 Academy Elite, a 3-1 win over Charlotte Unite Gold, and a 4-2 triumph over Freestate Freedom Red.
