FC Alliance achieved another East Tennessee first this weekend, capturing a division title in the prestigious National Premier League. The 99 Boys Black won the six-team South Atlantic division over some of the top clubs in the southeast, including Atlanta Fire United which has a national championship to their name. Other competitors were Triangle United, Roanoke Stars, Charlotte United, and Augusta Arsenal.
The team’s only loss in the league came in the first game: a 4-3 defeat to Triangle in December. It was a setback they would quickly avenge, turning the table on the North Carolina powerhouse in a 4-1 route on February 4. Since then, the 99 Boys Black have recorded impressive wins over Atlanta Fire (3-1) and August Arsenal (5-0), among others.
With the title, the team qualifies for the National Premier League Champions Cup in June. The tournament is played in Aurora, Colorado.
