Nike's prestigious id2 program recently invited 60 of the top players in the region to participate in a camp to help identify the best of the best. Of those sixty, two FC Alliance players were selected to move on to the next leg of the journey towards the national pool. Macy Lindsey and Gwen Breslin of the 00 Girls Black joined an elite group of players from as far as Texas and Massachusetts to compete for spots at the nation's highest level of play. The two were among ten players from FC Alliance scouted and recruited at National Premier League games this past December in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Nike id2 program is almost fully funded, meaning players can attend with little or no cost to their families. They even walk away with Nike gear courtesy of the shoe and apparel giant.
"It's a great opportunity for players to be seen at multiple levels," said Director of Coaching Josh Gray. "Macy and Gwen are both outstanding players who deserve to be there."
A camp this month in Raleigh is the next stop for Breslin and Lindsey. From there, it will be a waiting game to find out if they move on again.
"Just this step is a great honor," said Gray. "That being said, both of them are good enough to go further. The club will keep its' fingers crossed."
