Major Statement at Disney College Showcase

96 Girls Black are champions, 98 Girls Black finalists

The Disney College Showcase is one of the most prestigious events in the United States.  This is evident especially when looking at the participant list: teams from nearly every state are in attendance, as well as top teams from other nations (Japan included).  State, region, and national champions line up to compete against the best of the best in front of hundreds of college coaches.  For the girls' event this year, FC Alliance did more than show up, they left a huge stamp on the event with one champion, one finalist, and a fourth place finisher.

96 Girls Black were the champions.  They knocked off Mclean Fury of Virginia 3-0 in the finals, after winning twice and tying once in pool play.  Anna Leslie led the way with three goals and Kirstin Robertson added two.  Other goalscorers included Morgan Sandifer, Kate Carney and Emily Ober.  Leslie and Sandifer are Lee University commits, while Robertson is headed to Austin Peay.  Amazingly, goalkeepers Lindsey Todd and Jordan Beets combined for three shutouts in four games at one of the top events in the country.  The two have also already committed to schools: Todd to Miami of Ohio and Beets to High Point University.  The team is coached by Kevin Keck.

Jon Schneider's 98 Girls Black took a huge step forward in taking finalist honors, despite a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to North Carolina Alliance in the finals. The team dominated in pool play, outscoring three opponents by a combined scored of 9-1.  The 99 Girls Black took fourth place in their division, fueled by a huge 2-0 win over Annandale Arsenal to propel them to second place in pool play and a ticket to the bronze medal match.
