03 Black team wins Alliance Premier Cup in style
There aren’t many places in the United States you can go to see the true passion of soccer on full display. Normally, to see that, you have to travel overseas to countries like England, Brazil and the scores of other soccer-crazed nations around the globe. However, there is one place you can go to get a sampling of soccer at it’s purest: your neighborhood U9 soccer game. For young players, especially those barely at the midway point of elementary school, the game means everything. Rarely does any other level offer a glimpse of players driven by the pure love of the game. This couldn’t be more accurate with FC Alliance’s 03 Boys Black, who recently captured the U9 Division of the Alliance Premier Cup. Led by Coach John Giles, they won four games en route to the championship.
Their title run was something similar to a tour of East Tennessee. The boys defeated teams from South Knoxville, Cleveland and Sevierville, before facing club rivals FC Alliance 03 Boys Red in the finals. Although playing your clubmates is never ideal in a tournament, it was a spirited game eventually won by the Black.
Overall, the team outscored their opponents by a combined score of 24-6.
