Coach Steven Townley has been with FC Alliance since 2009 and he is one of the area's most respected coaches. In nine years, he has coached a state champion and a state finalist; he has also led teams to championships at tournaments such as Norcross Nike Cup, Carolina Elite and Battleground of Champions in Nashville. However, as impressive as his coaching feats are, Coach Townley's playing background is what intrigues so many. He is a former U20 representative for the Australian national team. Prior to that, he played on South Australia's U20 team. He played professionally in Australia for the Modbury Jets Soccer Club and then eventually in England for Lincoln City Football Club.
As a collegiate player, Coach Townley was a three-time NAIA All-American at Milligan College. He was all-conference four times, all-region three times, named NAIA National Player of the Week once, and won the conference Golden Boot award. His team named him captain for his junior and senior years and assistant captain his sophomore year.
Coach Townley holds a National "C" license and generally works with boys’ teams. When he has down time, he loves watching Manchester United and Celtic play. He is a physical education teacher in Lenoir City, and his wife Mollie is an English teacher and the cheerleading coach at Farragut High School. The two love to travel and Coach Townley's native Australia is always a desired destination.
